I've been practising taking apart and putting together an older computer. The last time when I got it back together and tried to boot it I got this message: no ROM Basic
system halted
Does this mean the BIOS is dead, a cable is hooked up wrong or a card is bad?

Here's what the Micro$oft Knowledge Database dragged up:

No ROM Basic (http://support.microsoft.com/support/kb/articles/q67/3/65.asp)

If you had everything...Where would you put it?

Paleo Pete, thanks much. I think that's just what I was looking for. This is a great place for novices like myself. Again, thanks.
