Upgrading a Laptop...

I plan on buying a laptop sometime soon (Probably Acer or Compaq) the only problem is, I can't afford to add a video card at the moment, I'd like to add one later, but with my desktop I had to get a whole new motherboard because the integrated card took the place of the pci slots.

Would it be the same with a laptop?

Nope, with notebooks you can upgrade memory chips, and maybe the HDD but that is about it.
