Total: $896usd
I want something to run games but nothing tooo expensive. I will purchase the casing down here as well as Optical Drives.
What are your views on the MSI 750i Mobo? is it good? i wanted something with a pci express 2.0 x16 slot but i dont think i can afford the 780i. The reason is that in case in the future i want to change the gfx card, i wont have any worries about it not working in a p35 mobo with a pci express 1.x slot.
What are your views on the laptop as well? i want a laptop to run a few games not on high settings but playable and to be able to run a lil AutoCAD and of course movies and music.
Thanks in advance i have learnt soo much on these forums!
and whats this talk of a new OS again in 2009? is it true? i head of it a couple months back and even a spy name but nothing since :D

anyone?
Im not going to SLI, i am just buying the 750i board for the pci express 2.0 x16 slot. Would it make more sense buying a board with a 1.x slot in these times? seeing that all the cards coming out are 2.0?

hey mate
i would change a few things to save you a few bucks
get a P45 MOBO (or X48 if you can stretch) and get a ATI 4850 or 4870 then are amazing for there price (nvidia is crying)
all the rest is fine ;)

hey george! thanks for the response
I was really thinking that over last night.. because i wasnt going SLI. An X38 board will work?
I was thinking of the ATI 4850 as well but, i dont know. I know its value for money but i really liked nvidia more.
I have had so much problems with ATI in the years :(
I will let you know of the changes!
BTW i finally got COD4 online play to work.

i have noticed this with alot of Asus products there "cheaper" models are a bit cr@ppy but there expensive ones are very good

lol i did some research and the both are quite similar if not the same. only minor differences.
read it from here:
http://forums.overclockers.com.au/showthread.php?t=687328
the major thing is that the deluxe has Express Gate SSD. Whats that? im now reading up on it.
EDIT: dont worry i found it, its pretty cool. i dont really need it tho.. i can live w/o it :D

hehe
its on hold. I kinda settled on these parts i might buy a lappy for about 999.
ASUS F8 Series F8Sp-X1 NoteBook Intel Core 2 Duo T5750(2.00GHz) 14" Wide XGA 3GB Memory DDR2 667 250GB HDD 5400rpm DVD Super Multi ATI Mobility Radeon HD 3650
(http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16834220303)
i still think i should buy this one for 200usd more but i dont know if its worth it:
ASUS M51 Series M51Sn-X2 NoteBook Intel Core 2 Duo T8300(2.40GHz) 15.4" Wide XGA 4GB Memory DDR2 667 250GB HDD 5400rpm DVD Super Multi NVIDIA GeForce 9500M GS (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16834220308)
its the same one i wanted to buy before but if the one for 999 can do just as good and performance as the second i will buy the cheaper one.
The only thing is the 2nd is 4GB and its a 2.4GHz CPU, with 3mb l2 cache and 800MHz FSB and 45nm core,
and the 1st one is 3GB RAM, 2.0GHz 2mb l2 cache 667Mhz fsb 65nm core.
Which one do you think is worth it? is the 2nd one worth the 200usd extra?
And well to top it off, my last exams are monday and tuesday and my dad's pc developed some bad sectors today, so i am not getting time to study :(
George Hallam
07-13-2008, 03:50 AM
Simple answer is that yes the other one is worth the extra $200.
But to be honest the extra 1Gb of RAM over the older version is totally pointless because its only a 32Bit version of vista
And well to top it off, my last exams are monday and tuesday and my dad's pc developed some bad sectors today, so i am not getting time to study
only a few more days you have to concentrate then you can relax for the summer :cool:

Good news though, i got the logitech z5500 :D its d%%n LOUD. the most i played it on was half and it shock the windows, tower, ground, etc :O scary lol

:p so i cant comment ;)
looks good mate, hows it running? at least you put the zalman cooler the right way round i had mine mounted the other way for a year lol
i love the RAM looks smart
your next big task is cable management but that does involve a drill, grinder, patience and some guts ;)

I love the look of the Zalman, but the cabling still could use some tidying up.
Edit: I agree with George.

@george....
hehehe bro, no i meant that i want a comment from you but not you alone, i wanted to hear from everyone. ;) :p
Thanks bro it runs sickkkkk! My poor older system is getting so jealous. The core runs at around 34C and under load, about 39C. and if the a/c is off, under load the max i hit is around 47C. That is with the room temps being at 36C.
hehe i watched a lot of pics of other zalman+antec users and they had there's that way and i was considering the airflow being one-way.
I cant help but agree! My current cable management took me about an hour just to plan it. If you look, my SATA cables run through the back! Thats the only con with this case, there is no room at the back for cables. it has a mere 1cm max between the case and the inner panel :(
I guess that will be my christmas project! Because it sounds grueling! Any suggestions tho?
@PrntRhd
thanks bro! I too agree. I, myself, am a bit disapointed with my job, hopefully in december i will sort him out. Im taking any suggestions for better cable management
@Whyzman
Thanks man,
bro it sounds awesome! When the room is cool, i lower the RPM's on the zalman and its very quiet, but when its hot, at full RPM it still sounds quieter than my old system. All my fans on the case are on medium, and this beast is sooo quite. I dont know why my cpu temps are locked on 38C right now :( Maybe because the room isnt cooled off yet. Here in the tropics its soooo hot. Its not electronics-friendly at all

looks good, calbing needs some "help", but.... who cares? As long as it runs good..
