Well I decided to get an OCZ Vendetta 2 to cool my Q9450 (will be using MX-2 thermal compound). I have an Antec 900 case and was wondering, after a tonne of google searching with no luck, which direction would be best for intalling it?

I have a 120mm exhaust fan on the rear of the case and the monster 200mm fan on the roof of the case. I would assume having the CPU cooling blowing toward exhaust would be great, however, I'm not 100% sure which direction the Vendetta 2 even blows in. My educated guess would be from the fan toward the HS OR from the label back through the HS. Is this correct?

All help is appreciated, thank you.

There are arrows on the side of the fan indicating an airflow direction. In any case, you can tell by the leading edges of the fan blades - the airflow is pulled through the fan from the front (OCZ label side) out the back of the heatsink.

The brackets used to install HSF units are pre-designed. You can't just pick an orientation (generally speaking). You'll have to read the instructions to see where it vents. My guess is out the back (so the fan would be facing towards the front of the case while air is exhausted towards the rear case vents/fans).

I figured as much. I've seen the vendetta 2 mounted pointing up and pointing back, I guess I will just go with whatever works best space wise. Thanks for the reply.

If you can get it to point up, that would work best in that case.

For future reference, in case anyone is reading/searching this.

The HSF can be installed either way. I installed it blowing toward the roof exhaust in my Antec 900, I haven't seen my CPU go above 32 degrees... yet, lol.
