windows XP and Vista 32 bit
Have a 3.n gig limit
To use all 4 gig you will need to get a 64 bit version of Windows

However the 32 bit version do a good job with 4gig installed

right... winxp 32bit will recognize 4gb max of memory addresses... not just physical ram sticks, so other devices/buffers take away from that 4gb leaving 3.n

A number of people have the same problem

1st does your bios see all 4gig ?
If so then it is the chipset and or drivers that aren't giving the info to windows.

Another area I have seen where it doesn't show up
is the memory settings in the bios
if the memory interlace is set wrong it can mess it up
