hello all,

after 5 years  of service my old crt has finaly given up on me :( , and im thinking of buying this LCD: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16824009108. I have a few questions about lcds:

My GPU is a 8800gts 512, my old monitor runs at a max resolution (at 85 hz) of 1200x900. this is esay for my card, im wondering how well a lcd scales in games. I know non native res look bad when reading text (blurry), but how noticable is it with games(ex. at 1280x768 in crysis). since we dont play alot of text games anymore :D

I keep my CRT's at least 5 years, will lcd serve me just as well?

How is color represantation/black level on modern lcds like the one I listed?

Is my choise good?

EDIT: maby this would be better: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16824009127&nm_mc=OTC-pr1c3grabb3r&cm_mmc=OTC-pr1c3grabb3r-_-Monitors+-+LCD+Flat+Panel-_-Acer+America-_-24009127

hmmm i turned down my monitor from 1680 x 1050 down to a smaller res just to see what it looked like and to be honest its not that bad but i have to say low res gaming is not nice :p

i have had an phillips 17" LCD screen (now as my slave monitor) for 6 years now and [touches wood] its been perfect no dead pixels or loss of brightness still looks brand new, but saying this it can be pot luck on the model of LCD panel you get but im sure it will last a long while, it comes with a 3 year warranty so that must say something ey ;)

the 19" model is alot better for this and on the whole its better, but blacks seem to be fine now on LCD's

Is my choise good?

for a budget/mid range monitor its a fine choice ;) if i were you i would get the 19"
