I am "squeezing"my diminutive Atom board into a tiny box (pre-built). In order for it to fit, I have to cut some holes for the ports.

The D945GLCF board has a printer port and a com port that of course protrude like on any other board. I am not going to use the ports, so I thought of removing the "face"of them (the bit that sticks out). Can this be done easily ?

Thanks.

Not easily, no.

Inside the housing are metal pins...if you just cut off the 'face' you send metal shavings everywhere.

Disassembly usually isn't straightforward and differs on different boards. If each port has two retaining screws then sometimes after removal of these with pointed pliers the "Block" can be pulled out but most of the time the pins are soldered to the mobo.
