New build question (necessary to reinstall Os?)

My current setup consists of an Asus M2n-E Socket AM2 board with an AMD X2 3800+ CPU running XP Pro.

I want to make the change to intel quad core setup and was wondering if its necessary to reinstall the OS?

Reason being is that i have a little complex setup consisting of 4 HD's in a dual boot setup as i use one for general use and the other XP for music production, and i really would not want to go through the reinstall process again.

Switching from AMD to Intel...yes, you should reinstall, from scratch.

You could get away with a 'repair' install, but with SP3 for XP having a problem with both the AMD and Intel CPU 'drivers' active at the same time, you would be just creating trouble for yourself.
