Last night my computer was really loud so I tried to "wake it up" to shut down. It was taking too long so i just pressed the button, it shut off right away. Now when i turn it on it shuts down after windows tries to start...

It may still think it is in sleep mode and reads the last command

Try to start it in safe mode

Then shut it down and restart it

Whenever I am forced to switch off the power to my PC without 1st closing Windows 2000 Pro correctly...
It causes problems with the FAT32 file system.

So I ALWAYS immediately scan the file system [from outside of Windows] using the "Emergency Boot CD" [EBCD] MS Scandisk program.
What it normally then finds is...
That the sizes of certain files [that were running at the time of the switch off] are being misreported.
I allow MS Scandisk to fix those and all is then well. :)
At Windows Startup, chkdsk scans all partitions that had files in use [C: (and D: where many data files for Windows are held on my PC)], but always finds that all is well, and proceeds to load Windows.

I don't know which version of Windows you're running...
Or which file system is in use on your Windows partition...
IT'S A POSSIBILITY...
That problems were introduced in the file system when you "pressed the button" and it "shut off right away".

Scanning the file system and fixing the problems may or may not fix the problems depending upon the nature of those.
Some files may have become detached from the file tables ["lost"], and may no longer be functional even if "recovered".

1. The best way to restore a functional set of Windows files is to restore an image backup of the Windows partition.

OR...
2. Can you manage to restore to a Windows "Restore Point"?

OR...
3. You may need to complete a Windows "repair".
