View Full Version : Network capabilities fail under Vista but not XP

I'm running an HP dv6000t laptop set up to dual boot Vista Premium and XP (both 32 bit).

For a while I've been having a problem with what I assumed to be my wireless networking card. I would be surfing the internet when all of a sudden the blue light on my wireless switch would turn orange as though the card was no longer receiving power and I'd lose internet capability. Over time I've noticed that this happens more frequently when I'm streaming video, but it has occured when viewing pages without fancy flash scripts. Also, it has occured under both Firefox and Internet Explorer. Things always work fine upon a fresh boot, but eventually the card always shuts off.

This has been an ongoing problem, and I noticed a short while ago that this only happens under Vista, which leads me to think that it isn't a hardware problem with my wireless card, but in fact a software problem with something under the Vista install. None of the Vista "repair" solutions have been able to remedy the issue.

Does anyone have any idea what the root cause of this could be? I'm tired of having to switch to my secondary OS (XP) whenever I want to use the internet.
