Hey,

I am looking at buying a new laptop and was hoping I could get some advice from some knowledgable people, such as yourselves. My budget is about roughly $1000-1300 give or take.

I need a laptop I can play new games with, but not necessarily with high graphics settings.

Other than that, I just use it for normal school work and internet browsing.

Does a high system bus speed make a big difference?

Would the following Dell XPS do the trick?

PROCESSOR Intel® Core™ 2 Duo Processor T8300 (2.4GHz/800Mhz FSB, 3MB Cache)
OPERATING SYSTEM Genuine Windows® Vista Home Premium Edition SP1
MEMORY 2GB Shared Dual Channel DDR2 SDRAM at 667MHz (2 Dimms)
GRAPHICS CARD 256MB NVIDIA® GeForce™ 8600M GT

Any other tips you have are greatly appreciated.

Thanks all!:)

That looks like a good setup to me. I'd suggest looking for comparable machines from HP as well, you might be able to get the same (perhaps better looking) machine for a lower price from them.

Also, if you go through Costco.com they cut the 100 rebate right out of the price so you don't have to fumble with mailing anything in.
