Presario V2000 789 processor w/384 Ram

My wife inherited this laptop. She has downloaded a trail version of Photoshop CS3. It comes with Adobe Camera RAW (Bridge) which processes NEF images (Average size 15,000K vs jpg = 2500K). Clearly, this computer can’t handle CS3 very well, let alone, loading images RAW images into ACR.

Would adding 1 GB help? Or, is she doomed because of the slow processor?

Thanks!

Adding another gig of RAM would certainly help. Maybe using a lower version of CS, too? Not much difference between them.. except a few things.

1.5GHz isn't horrible, that should be able to handle simple programs, like PS.

It will help. not as much as a Core2 duo would but it will certainly help.
You can put up to 2 GB of RAM into the two slots, runs about $66 per chip.

If that laptop can handle 2 gigs of RAM, go for it...photo work eats RAM like a toddler eats candy....messily and very quickly. So if she is thinking about using the laptop for any kind of photo work, max out the amount of RAM it has...

I still use PS7 and recommend it. It still does most of the stuff CS3 does.
