Couple Questions

1. Is there a big difference in nForce 680i SLI Motherboard vs. the 780i? Is the 780i something I have to get, or will the 680i do fine?

2. Does the 9800GX2 have a huge advantage over the GTX 260?

I'll be playing games like CoD4 and TF2, and probably Spore, Starcraft 2 and Diablo 3 in the future (If anyone knows the reqs on the last two). I'm just wondering if 680i and the GTX260 will play those games at med-high with decent FPS

hmm some people say the 780i is a really extreme version of the 680i. (most probably is) but the 780i does have some clear advantages over the 680i
-3 ways SLI
-PCI-e 2.0 x 16
-45nm quad core support
-some support 1066MHz RAM
-higher OC ability

if you want a 780i board get the EVGA 780i FTW MOBO

the 9800GX2 is better than the GTX 260 but both are not as good as the ATI 4870 maybe the 9800GX2 on par sometimes.

My best advise to get the most performance and save a lot is get a X48 MOBO and a ATI 4870 and you can play all of them game all on high with lots of AA as well ;)

I don't have much time to make more money (It's for college), but would the 680i and GX260 be able to play CoD4 (or most games) on med-high?

yes will play almost all game on high with 4 x AA and 16 x AF :D
