View Full Version : Spooler Service Stopped

Hi,

I can't print anything and find in MSConfig > Services that Spooler Service is stopped, but I only have the option to enable all, or disable all.

How can I just enable the Spooler Service please?

I bought an ebook on how to speed your PC up. But it's quite badly written and covering these services wasn't very clear, and at the end of that section it says if anything then doesn't work, "just revert". But it doesn't say how to revert without enabling Everything, (and surely, making my PC even slower!)

Once again, my meddling has got me unstuck. (It's just that the sales video demonstrated this ex hacker opening Photoshop up in about 3 seconds, compared to my 18 seconds!)

Thanks in advance

Paula

Firstly, DON'T USE MSCONFIG TO DISABLE STARTUPS/SERVICES!!! It is a diagnostic utility that is supposed to help with troubleshooting/problem solving, not a customization tool to turn off unwanted 'features'...

"Enable All" and start over...

Go to the Adminstrative Tools (in the Control Panel/Start Menu) and start the Services applet...then use the list at http://www.blackviper.com/

Sorry how? I looked around but didn't understand anything.

Got my printer working though so thanks a lot.

If you look at the chart...

http://www.blackviper.com/WinXP/servicecfg.htm

The last three columns are the ones to work from. The "Safe" or "Tweaked" should give you what you need without any 'extra' services running, without shutting off anything critical. Start with the "Safe" settings and see how your machine runs...

Read the "how to" and the various warning/instruction/why links throughout the top part of that page...
