I am upgrading from my 8600gts to an 8800gts soon, and i want to know if I can set up my computer so that I can still use the VGA ports in the 8600. My computer is set up for SLI so it has two slots for graphics cards. I am trying to run two monitors and a TV so to have all three up at once i would need both cards i think. Is it as simple as putting the 8600 in the secondary port and reinstalling it along with the new card?
thanks for your help

Yeah. I'm not the most knowledgable in this area but from what I have heard this should work. You cannot SLI the cards together but if you have 2 PCI-Express slots you should be able to just put the cards in both slots. Usually, the 8800GTS will come with a VGA adaptor so that you can still use VGA so you would only need the one card, if not for the 3 monitor thing. I would say yes on the question though, you should be able to run the cards at the same time, independent of each other, without SLI.
This is just an educated guess so I would wait on some more posts before I just went on with this.
Hope this helps,
HT
