I am sorry to ask such a dumb question, but what is the difference between aa bus and an expansion slot. Are they the same, or are do they have physical or virtual differences. Please don't give me an explanation of what they are. PC Guide has done a good job of that.

Go here and see if you can find what you're looking for. http://www.webopedia.com/TERM/I/Industry_Standard_Architecture_ISA_bus.html

Acually I've been there. This is not the answer. Thanks anyway. Maybe I'm not asking the right question?

The expansion slot is the physical slot that a card plugs into. Mounted on the motherboard, and has a number of contacts corresponding to contacts on the card.

The bus is the means of communication with the rest of the computer, basically circuitry on the motherboard that sends signals to one location or anouther...CPU, memory, cache, etc.

Both are physical, the main difference is one is a plug that a card fits in and the other sends and receives signals to and from the card, which is plugged into the expansion slot.

That's about the limit of my understanding of it, I haven't tried to get into the intricate details, I leave that to motherboard designers...

Thank you so much. That was the explanation I needed to put them in the right address, so I can access the file when I need it. Have a productive day.
