Hi,

I am new member.First of all excuse me for any spelling errors but i am typing this in a hurry, my computer keeps bsod-ing every 10 mins, sometimes more so i am afraid it will cut me off in the middle of typing;)
Now i searched and searched through net and was very disappointed not to find the solution, as i usually find one.

When i get the bsod, it says following:

DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL

STOP: 0x000000d1 (0x00000040 0x00000002 0x00000000 and parameter 4(which actually changes every time i get bsod, but it always seems to start with 0x888))

Searching through the net i saw a faulty driver could be the reason, or even cpu overheating. The latter seems not to be the problem ,as temperatures are normal.
Now drivers are probably what is causing this.Few days ago i installed ati tray program for my video card ( btw my comp: winxp sp2, amd 1800+, 1 gb ram, radeon 9200 ...) and it seems that at that time problems started.I naturally uninstalled atitray.it didn't help.then i uninstalled video drivers and installed again. No help. Then did system restore to a previous date (but in the end it seems system restore did nothing as i got a message "no changes have been done", even though i have made those installs/uninstalls.

Event viewer gives this error: (category 102 event 1003)

Error code 100000d1, parameter1 00000040, parameter2 00000002, parameter3 00000000, parameter4 88b20d03.

For more information, see Help and Support Center at http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/events.asp.

Also, i seem to have a lot of this errors too:

The Wireless Zero Configuration service depends on the NDIS Usermode I/O Protocol service which failed to start because of the following error:
The service cannot be started, either because it is disabled or because it has no enabled devices associated with it.

For more information, see Help and Support Center at http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/events.asp.

Please help me someone, i am desperate.:(
If you need me to post something more please say.

edit: i have also installed a Microsoft hotfix (KB916595) it says to fix the driver_irql_not ... 0x000000d1 problem on winxp sp2, but i am still getting bsod.
2nd edit: i have scanned with multiple anti virus, anit spyware, ccleaner etc.

You can give this a try...

http://downloads.guru3d.com/download.php?det=745

It completely removes the drivers and any bits and pieces that the uninstaller leaves behind. I'd advise going to the Ati site and downloading the most recent version for your card before running it.

Did that, and just as i thought my computer was good again, about 30 mins after installing everything, it bsod me again.:(

Then it is time to a 'deep' cleaning...probably time to remove the fan from the video card (if it isn't a sealed unit) and thoroughly clean everything. CPU fan/heatsink too...

hmm, i deep cleaned cpu fan but haven't touched vid card, might try, thanks.

DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL (d1)
An attempt was made to access a pageable (or completely invalid) address at an
interrupt request level (IRQL) that is too high. This is usually
caused by drivers using improper addresses.
If kernel debugger is available get stack backtrace.
Arguments:
Arg1: 00000040, memory referenced
Arg2: 00000002, IRQL
Arg3: 00000000, value 0 = read operation, 1 = write operation
Arg4: 8915cd03, address which referenced memory

I think zone alarm is causing it, vsmon.exe being it's true vector process.i will uninstall za for the time and report on how it works.
But what strikes me most is why?Why god oh why?i haven't changed anything about my internet or zone alarm for months and it happens like this out of the blue...

Umm...do you have ZA set to autoupdate?

There was a recent MS update that borked ZA...
