View Full Version : phone and speakers
I know that you can plug your phone into your modem so you can use that phone when you are not using the modem and have speed dial and such. With this setup, your phone signal is going through your computer anyway so is there a way that your computer speakers can output this sound? I think that such a thing would be very useful when you are on the phone to tech. support or something and are on hold. When a customer service rep. picks up the phone, you know and pick yours back up. That way you wouldn't have to hold the phone to your ear for 14 minutes and you would be free to move around the room because you wouldn't be restricted by a phone cord.

Hey Jes,
Yes you can do this. It depends on the kind of software you are using for your modem.
I myself use Bitware. It has speakerphone, a real simple fax program, phonebook, etc....
HERE (http://www.cai.com/) is a link to Computer Associates, where you can find more info.
Good luck http://www.PCGuide.com/ubb/cool.gif

So I need to find what at Computer Associates?

OOPS, should have been more clear http://www.PCGuide.com/ubb/biggrin.gif
What I was reffering to was "Bitware" software (voice/fax software). It is made by Computer Associates.
You can also try Google (http://www.google.com) and search for voice/fax software.
I'm sure there are some others here who can suggest their favorites also.
Good luck http://www.PCGuide.com/ubb/cool.gif
