Modifying the Bios

My laptop is dying once again. To help things go smoothly, I want to put the serial number back into the bios. It magically wiped the serial number a while back... Does anyone here know what progame I can use to fix this problem? It's not the end of the world if it doesn't get done as they fixed my laptop before.

Short of there being something from Acer to remove/replace it (HP used have that, until the utility was 'leaked'), no.

If you were comfortable with programming, a hex editor...but since this is the BIOS, I wouldn't recommend it...one small error = bad flash = no more booting = new BIOS chip...and on a laptop, they are soldered in place, so that means, new motherboard.

well, I wouldn't take credit for it... if something horribly went wrong, I'll just blame the heat problem that I periodically have or something along those lines...
