I've got a Dell 4600 PC that I have had for ovre 4 years. I don't have any issues with it other than it being loud due to the fan. I've replaced the fan several times, including about 2 months ago,and cleaned the inside with compress air on the power supply fan, and the video card. However after cleaning all those, its still loud.

It starts off quiet, but after running for a while it revs up and gets loud. It will rev up and then rev down and I'm afraid I'm going to blow the darn thing up. I've gone in and change settings so it hibernates after 2 hours of inactivity in order to try to save things

Is there any way I can get more cooling in the case because Dell systems don't really allow for any modifications? Is there something running in the background that may be causing this to rev up? I really like this computer and I don't want to hurt it to the point that I have to get a new one, which I don't want to do because Vista doesn't impress me in the least.

Any help you can provide would be appreciated.
