Hi.

Have a NEC POWERMATE with recovery partition of windows vista.
Is it possible to burn this partition in a cd then install windows using it.

THANKS.

Most computers that come with partitions containing the OS have some method of burning them...so check the included documentation, or the manufacturer's website, as each is slightly different.

If there is no obvious way of creating a restoration CD directly then you can still make a clone of the partition by imaging it (and thus be able to restore it at a later time) or of simply copying the files on the partition (if it has an accessible file system) to some backup location on DVD or other removable medium. You could of course also make an image of your working system. There are a number of utililties (http://vik/paulshelp/zpages.php?id=1917) that can help you.

It would be preferable to be able to create bootable restore CDs using the maker's own software but these are ways of ensuring you don't get stuck with a way to reinstall everything you need.
