My notebook has a Intel wireless pro 3945bg adapter (not abg) which keeps disconnecting from the Internet after one hour or so. The Network notification shows local area only. Resetting the adapter rarely works, even if it does the connection stays for only a few minutes. To get back the connection I have to reset the wireless router and modem and also the wireless adapter. I have uninstalled and reinstalled and updated the device driver for the adapter but to no avail. After running network diagnostics I sometimes get the message 'reset adapter' or 'a problem still exists which cannot be solved by windows....'.

My OS is windows VHP, router Dlink airplus extreme G, modem utstarcom 300r2u. I'm using the router just as a switch, so the modem is not directly connected to the router WAN.

If you guys have any idea please help.

I have seen this before with a couple of units
it isn't the fault of the laptop
You keep loosing the internet and not the local
So the problem is/maybe in the router and or wifi router

BTW.
To work correctly the modem should be connected to the router WAN
Then the wifi router to one of it's switch connectors

Then boot everything in the correct order

Thanks for your reply Rick. The last time I lost the Internet I logged on to the router setup page and did a restart and to my surprise got back the connection. So as you said the problem is with the router. Are there any settings in routers that will cause it to disconnect from the net?
