I have been building computers for a few years now but am far from an expert.
I am trying to put together a gaming rig for my friend on a budget of about $1500-1700. This will have to include everything including a monitor.
I have been looking at the following
Processor - either core 2 duo 3.1GHz or the Quardcore 2.5Ghz
Motherboard - Gigabyte GA-X48 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813128332
or a 780i SLI http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813141005
I will be getting the GTX280 graphics card and standard 4 GB ram etc...
My questions are....
1. Would he really notice the difference in the duo core or quad core processor if he is only gaming with it. He may use some art programs but no video rendering or anything like that.
2. Any idea which motherboard would best suit his needs? Maybe a motherboard I dont have listed.
3. I was looking at a 750W Corsair power suppoy for about $99. I would imagine that would be sufficient.
