Hey whats up? I don't know which 4 of the ones below to purchase. I have $290 but I'd still like to spend around 200 (under preferred). With that said which of the 4 do you think I should get? It's going to be used to host mp3 files that I want to play (not backup). I DJ and make music on my computer, and I'm going to be getting a laptop soon and they have small HD's so I thought why not (I'll be stickin w/ Windows). I might also store some vids and software too.
1 TB drives I'm considering

Build your own:
Anyone of these (http://www.newegg.com/Product/ProductList.aspx?Submit=ENE&N=2010150014%20103530090&bop=And&Order=PRICE).
Along with anyone of these (http://www.newegg.com/Product/ProductList.aspx?Submit=ENE&N=2010090092%201053807123&name=3.5%22&Order=PRICE).
Some assembly required. It is my experience the enclosure will fail before the drive. If this happens you can either loose your data or your warranty. If this happens with DIY, you open the case and get a new one and preserve your data.

Classicsoftware is pretty much spot on.
Connection issues with external drives/laptops can easily be caused by the frequent connection of USB cables to the drive (the cable connection can get loose). With an I-built-it type, you can remove the HDD and get another enclosure if needed. The pre-built ones may be sealed and might have proprietary controllers, & it is pretty hard to get the data off if you have to break the enclosure to get access to the drive.

No problem then. Do look at the enclosure specs for what drives they support. Some of those enclosures have 500GB limits, some 1 TB limits.
