Are you certain your Internet first connects through a Hub? I would expect a Modem, not a Hub.

If you do have a modem, it would be best shared by connecting that modem to a home router which then connects both PCs directly either wired or wirelessly.

What you are attempting is ICS (Internet Connection Sharing) which was designed to allow a DialUp connection to be shared via the computer dialing-up. I don't think the protcol can be used to share the internet connection via a LAN.

You need to connect all PCs using the same internet gateway from a router or other devices configured as a router (for example a server PC set up as a router).

Since you can connect wirelessly using the laptop why not get youself a wireless PCI card or wireless USB dongle and connect to your HUB?/Router directly or, as suggested, directly using an ethernet cable.
