Hi All,
Since yesterday I'm no longer getting the download prompt.
Where it asks where you want to save the file to, I dont know what I've down. I just get the download sign by the start button, and no idea where it's putting the files.
OS XP Pro
Thanks,
kfh.

kfh,

If your system is accomplishing the download, albeit sans the prompt, I think they go to the last location to which you downloaded. My WinMe seems to use the last location as the default.

You might want to consider FLASHGET (http://www.amazesoft.com) which will allow you to complete downloads that might be interrupted. I seem to remember someone saying that it contains some spyware...but with Adaware it can be removed without affecting performance.

Is flashget not registered spyware? or am I getting mixed up?

Download Accelerator Plus or Star Download (no advertising) both do the same job and allow you to place each download exactly where you want it just before you start the actual download

Hello KFH,
What browser are you using?
If AOL, go to Settings, Prefferences, Download and dig around there.

I have had to check this in IE before but can't remember exactly. What I did find is, in Internet Properties>Advanced tab, there is a box you can check for "Notify me when download is complete." If you check this box, I believe in the notification, it shows the path to the file. At least then you know where it went.
I will keep looking for a way to get other notice back, and I am sure there are others here who know how http://www.PCGuide.com/ubb/wink.gif

According to SpyChecker (http://www.spychecker.com/) FlashGet (Formerly JetCar) is Radiate Aureate SPYware. "SPYware: is NOT the same thing as "adware!"

Steve Gibsons (SpinRite fame) explains:
"Spyware is ANY SOFTWARE which employs a user's Internet connection in the background (the so-called 'backchannel') without their knowledge or explicit permission.

"Silent background use of an Internet 'backchannel' connection MUST BE PRECEDED by a complete and truthful disclosure of proposed backchannel usage, followed by the receipt of explicit, informed, consent for such use.

"ANY SOFTWARE communicating across the Internet absent these elements is guilty of information theft and is properly and rightfully termed: Spyware."

Now you can pay the$15.00 bucks and dump the adds and such.
