Would some one direct me to a good site for information on the internal structures of a modern CPU? The information I seek is "what is the physical material that separates the CPU registers"? Example as to its elements metal, silicon et-cetera.
The comparison of wall structures between Notebooks and Desktop CPU's are they different in width or structure?

Which CPU? The materials have changed significantly over time. At least one change is made every year, and vast differences appear every 7-10 years. Even something as recent as a Pentium III barely looks like a modern CPU.
