View Full Version : What's with these Facebook "Someone likes you" viruses/worms, or whatever they are?

For example, on my wall one of my friends wrote: "hey someone told me they have a big crush on you! go to crshspace.info to find out who it is" When I went there, it asked for my name and then for the name of someone I have a crush on, then my cell phone number, which made me suspicious because it sounded like some advertisement/spam plot (obviously I didn't give in!). It was also weird, because the Facebook friend who wrote that on my wall is a legitimate friend that I know in real life, not one of those stupid random people, like on MySpace, who sends you a friend request when it's really a corny advertisement plot (I got rid of MySpace a long time ago).

I saw that same "crush" thing on another person's wall from one of their friends, however that person just barely got married, so it was weird.

I saw another person who had a friend who wrote on their wall: "GET THE HOTTEST RINGTONES FOR YOUR CELL! THE NEWEST AND HOTTEST SONGS. GO TO LINK BELOW"

Is there some sort of virus/worm that spreads and has spyware or something?

They are so obnoxious... and the facebook staff is being so slow to catch up to them. They don't even attempt to stop them at all... ALL it would take to buy some time is to run a code blocking certain phrases like, "someone told me the have a big crush on you! go to" from being posted on the wall... and voila! Gone for at least awhile until they figure out the real problem...

It's turning into Myspace.
