View Full Version : How Do I Open an .iso File??
I just downloaded a very large file (split into 30 files)and when I clicked on the .exe file it created an .iso file (larger than all the 30 files combined).
This .iso file will not open. I have tried EZCD Creator, CDRWin, CD Mate and Fireburner - Every which way I could think of. When I double click the .iso in a computer with EZCD Creator installed, the file causes EZ to open and try to burn the file (which I let it do, still the file does nothing).
Would really appreciate any suggestions.
Thanks,
Bil

The single Large file(ISO) is an image file of a disk.
ez cd is doing exactly what it is supposed to do.
Burn it onto a cd.
Check the cd created by EZ and the iso .
If the cd is OK then you can delete the old files you downloaded and the iso file also.
if the CD is corrupt check the files you downloaded.
They may be corrupt and caused the errors.
Thanks Rick,
I don't know how to tell if one of the many files are corrupt. If I try to open one of the .rar files a message pops up that says: Can not write to disk.
I did burn a CD of the .iso file and it is exactly the same as the original (won't open). Is it possible that I don't have the right software to open this .iso? Using CDRWin a message came up that said:
You don't have permission to open this file, see the Administrator.

What operating system are you using?
Also check your options in the burning program, often there are some choice dealing with burning isos as an image (which is what you get if you just burn it as data) or to burn the contents of the image to the disk in the original format they where in when the image was made....
Here are a couple of links dealing with burning issues....

Thanks mjc,
I am using Windows 2000. I downloaded MD5 to check the Check MD5sums.
I don't really understand this. When I opened the MD5 it wanted to know the root folder (of Windows?). I could not point it to a file, only folder. This program is for checking the integredy of the .iso file.
All very foriegn to me.
