I recently purchased a new motherboard and CPU for my PC. It was installed by a licensed professional company. i get past the BIOS setup but when the pc begins to load the "Windows XP" screen, the video drops and i'm back at the black screen. I did notice that right after the beep, i get a sound that's hard to describe. Its kinda like a helicopter starting up. I never had that with the old motherboard so i don't know if its normal of it somethings not registering properly. any help is appreciated.

Open it back up and try to reset the bios. Either take out the battery (little silver round battery, like a big watch battery) with the computer unplugged or move the resistor switch to the reset for a couple minutes and put it back. unplugged of course. Do either one for a couple minutes to reset everything.

Umm...you said 'new motherboard'...did they happen to reinstall Windows, or just re-use the install that was already on your hard drive?
