When running my Pc-W98- I often expeience problems asspociated with "low resources. What is cosidered to be a safe or acceptable percentage for available Windows System Resources. Is 50% safe or not?I have MemoKit software, so I can see what's happening but I don't really know when to take action. As I write, my system resource indicates 50% free and my free RAM is 38.4 out of 128K.
Help please? http://www.PCGuide.com/ubb/frown.gif

RAM and resources are not the same. The "low resources" that you are receiving warnings about are fixed (they cannot change size) areas that are hold overs from the days of DOS a good eplaination (http://www2.whidbey.net/djdenham/Window_memory.htm), and here too (http://www.pcguide.com/opt/opt/win.htm). so basically to fix the problem you need to disable alot of the ings that load and run in the backgorund, including that RAM "optimizing" program...because all it does it push what is in RAM to the swapfile, or some other cache and do nothing about releasing the resources used...the only way to do that is close down some running apps or prevent them from running in the first place...
Here (http://www.pacs-portal.co.uk/startup_content.htm) is a pretty good list of programs that run at startup and tips on how to disable them.

Not that it matters in the slightest, but this may possibly be my only chance to correct mjc.
"The Mountain State" is actually West Virginia's nickname.

Noted with interest, Pentachris. But is it on the automobile number plates of vehicles registered in West Viginia?
