Cannot get past post

I'm having problems getting past the Post screen,

the processor is picked up, then 1024 RAM ( I have 2gb) +64m then it just stops. I've taken out both memory cards one by one, which makes no difference, checked all connections - which are all ok. It seems to be intermittent though since I was able to get in after the first few attempts.

Any ideas?

I kind of had that problem. Black screen and wont get past post 04 and it beeps.

I took out one stick of ram and took out my motherboard battery for 5 minutes to reset it and then it actually started up. But the thing is if a leave the two sticks and and take out the battery it doesnt work and it doesnt even matter which stick I choose.
