Question about my RAM

Hey guys, just a quick question about the RAM slots on my HP Pavilion a1720n.
In the specs online it says it has 4 slots, so just to confirm I opened the case up and saw there were in face 4 slots with 2 taken. However, the 2 slots that are currently in use are black, and the 2 open ones are blue..does that mean anything or when I buy ram can I just put them in to blue slots no problem?

different colour RAM slots usually indicates that the motherboard supports dual channel ram.

Any of the slots can be used without a problem, but you need to have an even number of sticks (of the same specification I believe) to take advantage of the dual channel capability.

Ok cool. The sticks in now are both 512 sticks so your saying if I get say 2 gig sticks I will be ok?

Yes that should be fine. As long as the two sticks are the same the other two can be different MB.
