Someone recommended to me the use of Mailwasher and HouseCall in addition to AVG. Are they safe and/or effective?

I have used Mailwasher (http://www.mailwasher.net/) for about 6 months now. Seems to be ok.
Is it safe? As far as I know it is. I've never had a problem with it.
Is it effective? Suppose that will vary from person to person.
I don't get a lot of spam anyway, but when I do, I don't want to download it to my email program. I'd rather delete it from the server right there and then and be done with it.
So for me, it does what it is suppose to do. http://www.PCGuide.com/ubb/smile.gif

Thanks John I should have mentioned that my ISP is AOL - awfully picky they are. Will Mailwasher get on with AOL, that is the question. Well, I suppose the proof of the pudding is in the eating . . . http://www.PCGuide.com/ubb/smile.gif

If you have the POP3 and SMTP server addresses, it should work. http://www.PCGuide.com/ubb/smile.gif
