Super (found here (http://www.erightsoft.com/SUPER.html)) it does everything and more... I've pointed to it a few times, the only problem I've had is my processor on my laptop isn't powerful enough to handle the latest version :( and it's a pain to get to... It does the conversion that you want though

I've used it before with out a problem. The download link should be this (http://www.erightsoft.info/GetFile.php?SUPERsetup.exe)

Getting there was fun because for some reason it conflicts with firewalls and such... The site seems to be clean and such as I've gone a couple of times and ran AV and Spy ware right after going.

Here's the installation SUPERsetup.exe file version 2008.9.1.2120. (http://www.erightsoft.info/GetFile.php?SUPERsetup.exe) Hmm, I can't get this link to work.
I've successfully downloaded this and it's more up-to-date [later] than the one I used [2008.2.8.2023] to install.

It was got at the bottom of this page (http://www.erightsoft.com/S6Kg1.html). [See screenshot] This address is being altered.
It should be = http://www.erightsoft.com/S6Kg1.html
.

You will be taken to the final page as in post #5 above.
I'll repeat the screenshot of the final link you should click.
Then show you a screenshot of the file download dialog.
Whew, they like to make it difficult, eh?

i downloaded it and found out you need 20Gb free on the C:\ drive (well OS disk) and i haven't got that, i asked my mate and he uses the audio player win amp and that plays .ogg files so i have switched to that, i find it alot better than iTunes :D

thanks for the help Sylvander ;)

i had to you IE in the end my FF and noscripts blocked the whole site and all the java and everything lol

20 GB free on C:?

My C: partition is only 6 GB in total and I have it installed!

I never ran into that problem, though my laptop doesn't have enough power to run the latest. I don't remember reading anywhere where it needs 20 gigs. you may want to look for an older version. (it's just as powerful as the new ones to some extent... at least powerful enough to do simple conversions)

At this webpage... (http://thegiornale.wordpress.com/2008/09/18/super-converter/)
The author says:
"Note: You might see a big message box (yes, it is big) that looks like this:
… saying that the PC does not meet the minimum requirements. Just click OK and ignore it. It does that all the time with me but it always manages to convert tons of videos."

How big is the file you are attempting to convert?

I have no experience of using SUPER...
Expected that it would be possible to configure it to save files on some other partition with plenty of space...
But I don't see any such configuration capability. :(

Except...
The super.ini file includes the line:
OutPutFolder=C:\Program Files\eRightSoft\SUPER\OutPut\

I wonder if it would be possible to edit that with a new output location?
Except that at the top of the ini file it says:
Auto_Generated___Do_Not_Edit___Do_Not_Delete!

I wonder if there's some problem with MP3 encoding?

Normally MP3 encoders don't come free [except the LAME encoder that can be integrated with other programs like CDex].
But my reading of SUPER leads me to believe they are claiming to not only read, but also encode MP3, and do it for free.

Anyway...
"If at 1st you don't succeed, give up [or set it aside] and try something else".

So how about this trial copy of Free Mp3 Wma Ogg Converter (http://www.sofotex.com/Free-Mp3-Wma-Ogg-Converter-download_L88228.html)?
Here's the maker's home page. (http://www.freemp3wmaconverter.com/freemp3wmaconverter.html)
The license agreement (http://www.freemp3wmaconverter.com/license.html) says:

That's it!

Take the line of least resistance to your destination [as in the web]. :)

And if something gets in your way, go around it.

the error you got about direct decoding or what ever. there's a check box in the upper right hand corner of the main program which you check and that should solve that problem.

Check out VLC, I think it's nicer then winamp (I think) and I noticed a some shifty things going on between win amp and my computer (at the moment I don't remember what it is, but I think it has something to do with yahoo toolbar and such...)
