The question would by why would you have two active AV scanners. This bound to cause trouble and wreak havoc on your system. Pick one...

but but wen i update them it tells me i have the latest update
How soon after updating the chosen A/V are you attempting another update or is it reporting this automatically? There are also two sorts of update; the A/V itself and the virus definitions database. Normally something that tells you that you have the latest update is good news. If there is a different error state message that is a different matter and you need to be more explicit. Are you running any software firewall and presumably you have tried a cold restart after reinstalling?

hi paul
from wat i can tell its the virus definition wat doesn't seem to up date, this is also the same with AVG free.
yet it tells me that i do have the latest definition wen i manually update it, but the over view shows a caution logo for the virus definition.
as for the cold start, not to sure Wat you mean by this !

thanks for you re patience

Like a reboot but rather power down, let sit for a moment, then power back up.

Shut off auto-updates. Manually download the latest definitions files, on a known clean, working machine (put them on a USB stick or a CD-RW) then direct the program(s) to manually update from the downloaded files. After the manual update, do a full scan, then reboot and turn on the automatic updates.

Normally, most software issues can be solved be reinstalling the software...
Sometimes though... it needs a little "more"
What MJC said should work...

if it does not...
