I'm running Vista Home on a new Compaq PC. My e-mail is now Windows.mail. Now and then when I click on my desktop icon for e-mail (dragged it there from the Start window) it gets put in the recycle bin. I've seen a similar complaint like this on the Internet but don't recall the answer.

Has anyone seen this or knows about a fix?

Any kind of 'cleaner' programs? protection?

It sounds like something is not liking the fact that you've changed the default location. Have you tried right clicking on the icon, in the Start Menu and selecting "Send to" and then choosing the Desktop? Or just making a copy of the icon for the Desktop?

I am using c-cleaner and Grisoft AVG. I'll try right-clicking on the icon in the start manual and sending it to the desktop and see how that works.

Thanks.
