I have a Dell C640 P4 2.0Ghz, 512MB of RAM, ATI Mobility 7000, DVD Rom, 20GB Hard drive. I added a Belkin F5D7010 Version 7000 about two years ago. Recently, I got a virus on my computer and all of the sudden, the wireless card would disable itself in the device manager. I would click enable and seconds later it would disable again. I reinstalled Windows XP and let it do a full format instead of a quick format. After reloading everything, a day later the problem started up again. If I erase the software and completely reinstall it, it will work for a day or two then stop. But if I just try and enable it again, it works for a few seconds then stops. Is there anything I can do? I've downloaded the most recent drivers on their site and still the same issue.

Well, I was going to suggest trying a Linux Live CD to see if the problem repeats outside of Windows, but the card is a Broadcom chipset that requires a bit of fiddling to set up, in most cases, so it isn't a simple boot to CD and see if it works procedure.

I tried buying a brand new linksys PCMCIA card and everytime I put it in the slot, it locked the computer up. No matter what I tried, it froze the computer and I had to reboot. Any suggestions from here?

Now the original Belkin card works but if the computer goes into the screen saver or sleep mode, the internet wont work. If i pull the card out and put it back in, it will work. Could it be XP SP3 causing the problem? The problems I'm having are very inconsistant.
