Are the mounting holes on a full size ATX motherboard and the mounting holes on a mini ATX motherboardboard in the same place so that the boards are interchangeable in a standard ATX case? Thank you, William

The mounting holes in a standard AT or ATX case should accept any motherboard, provided it's the right form factor for that case. Some cases will handle AT and ATX. A mini ATX should fit in a standard case with no problems, most have multiple mounting holes so any style or brand motherboard should fit.
With the mini ATX case only a mini ATX motherbard will fit due to the size of the case. The mounting holes might match, I'm not sure, but the standard ATX board would be too big to fit in the case.

So if I have a standard ATX case that has a full size ATX motherboard in it now, I will be able to replace it with a mini ATX motherboard, because the mounting holes will be spaced the same. Correct?
Thank you, William

Yes.
I have a mini ATX mobo in a mid sized regular ATX case as I type this. I wish now that I had gone with a full size mobo though for more bays and a variety of slot types. (ISA and PCI)

Sorry but at this point i have to ask: why, having an ATX case, would someone put a mATX mobo? I don`t see the reason, even pricewise.

In my 'case', I specifically told the pc man I ordered my pc through that I wanted a mid-sized tower. I assumed he new it was for potential extra peripherals. http://www.PCGuide.com/ubb/mad.gif Instead I have an area that is wasted in the tower.
