Hey so I just got a new laptop about half a year ago and I use it for just the norms and to play wow. You don't have to play wow to answer this, they have a new expansion coming out and was curious if my graphics card could run this. I have a intel gma x3100 and here's the expansion requirements:
* Minimum: 3D graphics processor with Hardware Transform and Lighting with 32 MB VRAM
Such as an ATI Radeon 7200 or NVIDIA GeForce 2 class card or better
* Recommended: 3D graphics processor with Vertex and Pixel Shader capability with 128 MB VRAM
Such as an ATI Radeon X1600 or NVIDIA GeForce 7600 GT class card or better
can I run it?

Although I've never played World of Warcraft I think I have your answer. I just checked the specs, if you can play The Burning Crusade Expansion you can play the new expansion, the specs are exactly the same.
Hope this helps.
Additionally:
If your computer is half a year old, I'm going to assume that your chip will run at something greater than 32MB. In fact its probably more toward the lines of 128MB or 256MB. Basically, in my mind I dont even think XP would run on it if it didn't. Most computers half a year old have Vista.

Upgrading video cards in laptops is virtually impossible. In fact, the x3100 is an integrated video card- meaning it is built onto the MOBO. So there are no upgrading options. You will be fine with that game. It is not really that demanding anymore. With integrated graphics the only "upgrade" you can do is a RAM upgrade. Because with integrated graphics, the system RAM is being shared between Windows and the graphics solution.
