View Full Version : IE privacy report?
I use IE 6 but I think this whows up on all vertions of 5 as well. I go to some pages and there is a little red sign. It looks like a "do not enter" traffic sign. When i haver my curser over it "Privacy Report" pops up. What is that?

It's only on IE 6, I'm pretty sure. Click on it and you'll get the privacy report for that page. You'll see it, for example, if your browser receives or was offered a third-party cookie.

Can I configure it to allow certain cookies and block some?

The Privacy tab under Tools - Internet Options.
For more advanced privacy and security, try Opera (http://www.opera.com).

Actually, I meant allowing specific cookies and blocking specific ones. Can I do that with Opera?

Yes. You set some basic rules about cookies (don't accept any cookies, or don't accept 3rd party cookies, etc.) to begin with. Then, when a cookie is offered which breaks a rule, you get a box that asks if you want to accept it or not, and you can check a box to make that rule stand for similar cookies for that whole website. So as long as you're at that website, it won't bug you again if you don't want.

I want to accept cookies from ebay and paypal and block the rest.I am using Opera now. It won't let me use the roller on my mouse and it apears that I can't open more than one instance of the program.
How long have you been engaged?

Ok. It does let me use the roller sometimes.

I've never wanted to open more than one instance of Opera. I'd rather use the multiple document interface and open multiple pages within the same window. (Great for search engine results - hold shift and control and go down the page clicking interesting results, and they'll load up in the background).
I have inadvertently opened multiple instances of Opera because I use this (http://www.philburns.com/ocpm.html) nifty tool. I found the link to it here (http://www.searchengineworld.com/opera) - one of the best websites for Opera info.
We got engaged at the end of November last year. We wanted to wait until she finished the master's degree she was working on before getting married (she'll wrap that up at the end of July), and the date we chose is my parents' anniversary, which we both thought was nice. My parents did, too. See us (http://www.knology.net/~chris.white/images/me&jen.jpg) in Margaritaville in New Orleans (with me being a drunk screwball. http://www.PCGuide.com/ubb/smile.gif)
Are you married?

How can I set Opera to connect to the internet through my LAN?

Allright. I found that one.
Here's an Opera question: It won't connet to ING Direct. It will get to the main page but will not view my account. I assume that it is a security setting. Speaking of settings, is there a place to remove cookies, temp. internet files and history files such as in IE?
Also, I dowloaded the java version of Opera. Bad?

I found the remove for cookies, temp. inet files, and history.
when I go to msn mappoint in opera, it refreshes the browser every few second but with IE on the same computer, it doesn't. Why?
