MJC helped me fix an issue in another thread of a similar name but I am still experiencing the problem of my downloaded files appearing with a .part extension. I have recently restored my computer to factory spec with the restore disk. Since then I have successfully downloaded and installed a number of applications that I like such as Open Office, Winamp, Weather Eye... but today anything that I download seems to arrive as a .part file. This isn't any common server. I have tried to get Packet Tracer from Cisco, I have tried to get Spybot from C/Net and I just went to freeware.com and downloaded a spreadsheet program for another example. I have tried searching my computer for the file but it doesn't appear to be anywhere else. I have tried rebooting and then trying it again but get the same result.

My ISP did some basic remote line testing and some remote checking of my DSL Modem and could find no problem. When I was on the phone with the Support Agent I downloaded Adaware. When the download finished the icon appeared briefly on my desktop and then disappeared.

Does anyone have any suggestions? I'm out of ideas!

FALSE ALARM! I did some further troubleshooting after the post and it seems that AVG was somehow getting in the way of my downloads completing. That naughty program!

Umm...dang, and to think I used to not only like AVG but push it like it was the best thing around.

meh, I use Avast! with no problems what so ever.
