Hi, I just found this entry on my search for a possible solution for my problem.
I ran Kaspersky too and it came up with the same potential threat warning as ujlee0's.
The complete paths are:
C:\Program Files\AskTBar\SrchAstt\1.binA5SRCHAS.DLL
C:\Program Files\AskTBar\bar\1.bin\A5POPSWT.DLL
C:\Program Files\AskTBar\bar\1.bin\ASKTBAR.DLL

I can't just delete any of it or the whole file, when I try I get a message that I'd need permission (whose??) to do that and MyWebSearch doesn't show up in any add/remove programmes either.

Does any of you know what this thing does btw?

Thanks, I'll do that next time.

As for the not-a-virus:WebToolbar.Win32.MyWebSearch.az problem we were talking about, I think i found an easy way to get rid of it.
I uninstalled Ask Toolbar and after that was able to simply delete the folder containing the files that Kaspersky marked as threats. Now the scan is clean. Maybe that would help ujlee0 too.

Malware travels in packs. It would be wise to post a log to make sure you are clean, but the choice remains yours....

Thanks for thinking of me erd12q! I'm not sure how you uninstalled Ask Toolbar. I didn't find that in my Add/Remove programs either. I did find the file in "C:/Program Files/AskTBar", but that's just the folder and not the program.

Hi, you're welcome :-)
I did find it in Programs and Features, so I could just remove it... . But I had to delete the folder seperately afterwards.
