View Full Version : Skype showing phone numbers for other data...

Hi.

I've had this problem ever since I installed Skype - data on web-pages and most notibly on my server, showing up as phone numbers, when it should just be tabulated numerical data.

Here is an example:

See how several lines of data which should be numerical, have been replaced by Skype phone numbers which is wrong.

This happens on several web-sites, not just the server, but this one shows the problem well.

The numbers still show up if I close Skype, so I suppose the problem is with the Firefox addon...

Anyone know how to stop this?
If I uninstall or otherwise remove the Firefox Skype addon, this will probably remove Firefox's ability to be able to handle Skype video calls, correct?

Any hints or pointers would be useful.

I haven't used the Skype add-on, precisely for that same reason...as I don't have a webcam and don't do video calls I can't say for sure whether or not it does anything with them. It's as if the number appears to have a correct country code/area code/exchange/number format, Skype makes it one, whether or not it is a phone number...which, in my book makes the add-on buggy.

Yeah, that's kinda what I think too(the addon is buggy).
I think I will disable it, and then see what happens next time I make a video call to my Sister in Tallahassee. :)

Just an update - I have disabled the Skype addon for Firefox, and the problem has vanished from all web-sites. I have yet to call my Sister in Tallahassee to see if video calls are still working right, but I expect that they will - I THINK the Firefox addon is just for showing Skype phone numbers...
