I have a 400 dynex psu and it is missing the -5 V on it.
I have a psu tester, and the psu's in my other computers turn all the lights on including the -5. Not this one. I looked clossley at the pins, and it has one open with no wire. It doesn't refer to a -5 on the psu case. It seems to run fine. Is this a new design?
Thanks,
Mike

ATX (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Atx)

"ATX12V 1.3 — guidance for the −5 volt feed was removed. This was only used by legacy ISA add-in cards."

We are now on ATX12V 2.2/2.3 (ATX spec 3.2/3.3) so the -5V DC has been gone for a long time now! You just noticed? :p

-5V DC is optional now. You may have seen it recently in OEM systems, where the OEM companies keep it around and use it for detection, so that you have to buy a new cr@ppy PSU with the optional -5V DC rail from them. Standard modern PSU's don't use it. Neither does standard modern hardware. Tricky OEM's!

Thanks, I've been sleeping for years.
