Choppy system

My system is running really choppy. I have a sony vaio laptop. Running windows vista home premium 32 bit. The other day it started runing choppy. Longer loading times than normal. Any suggestions on how to possibly diagnosis it.

Well, it sounds like a spyware/virus. Get http://www.download.com/Trend-Micro-HijackThis/3000-8022_4-10227353.html (Hijack Thisl) and post your log here. If you run out of space, split it into several posts.

you are going to want to follow the directions on this thread (http://www.pcguide.com/vb/showthread.php?t=60009).

Before going that far, have you defragged your system? Also, make sure your recycle bin is empty. There are a couple other things you can do if you are a bit more technical. If things don't improve then post the hijackthis log and someone who knows how to read them will tell you what to do about it.
