Is there an online application where I can upload images/documents in folders? I work in a school environment which has a thin client network and no hard disk or CD ROM. One of the tasks I need the students to do is search for files. The online application has to have a feature for searching like the “search” feature on Windows.
Thank you

this might do the trick,

note from above article:
The Gmail Program Policies do not explicitly ban GMail Drive, shell namespace extensions, or the use of Gmail storage space for files other than e-mail.[2] Nonetheless, immoderate use of GMail Drive may trigger Google to temporarily suspend a Gmail account.[3]

I'm using FREE 30 GB 123-Drive (http://www.123-reg.co.uk/online-storage-drive/) online storage.
Uploaded a large hierarchical folder system of files [mostly photos].
As you can [partly] see from the screenshots below...
1. At the left side of the webpage window there is:
TASKS
NAVIGATOR
UPLOAD FILES
2. There are all kinds of things that can be done when logged-on; it was/is a real learning experience for me.
e.g.
(a) Once you've uploaded the folder system full of files into a folder you've made and named...
You can browse through the various folders/files.
(b) Once into a folder, photos are displayed as thumbnails.
Right-click on a file [thumbnail] and you are presented with a context menu.
Choose View [in the case of a photo] and you get an almost full-screen display [high quality in the case of my own photos].
(c) When you have an account and are working inside it...
You can "Add Friends" to your community. [Or make things available to the world]
This involves giving their email address.
They will be sent an email by the site saying that you have invited them to go to your site.
They must then take out an account themselves, and once into their own account will see your account as part of their "Community".
(d) They can go browse their "Community" folder to browse the folders/files made available to them by you [and others?]
(e) You can specify the freedom of movement/action of those you've made your "Friends".
