Hi everyone,
I live in Australia and am currently with the TPG ADSL2+ 70GB (35GB +35GB) plan. At the moment, I have a One Port NetComm NB1 modem (provided by TPG) that is connected to a Linksys SD205 switch, which is then connected to a Linksys WAP54G wireless access point which distributes the internet to my ASUS S5200N laptop. An ethernet cable also runs from the Linksys switch to a PC which uses the internet directly from the modem.
So in summary, it looks like this:
NetComm NB1 --> Linksys SD205 switch (10/100) --> Linksys WAP54G --> wirelessly accessed by ASUS S5200N laptop.
I have a feeling that's not a great way to setup the network since I've been having problems with my internet speeds.
Firstly, my laptop only connects at 11 Mbps and the greatest speed I've achieved with everyday downloads is around 120 KBps...unless I port forward for the BitTorrent where, depending on the file and seeds available, I get about 250 KBps max.
Secondly, my PC also experiences similar download speeds, but is only slightly faster than the laptop at around 150 KBps.
Is there something wrong I'm doing in the way I connected? Any settings or network connections I can change to optimize the connection speeds?
Thanks in advance!!
