I have a packard bell pc which needs new motherboard , PB/ front panel wiring comes in a one of solid block . I can get a replacement board from PB but at a hefty cost . All other boards I can get need the wires indavidually connected ( reset , power /sw hd led ect ) I could snip the wires & solder them on but not much cope at soldering . My question is there anywhere I can get small plastic connecters to put on the ends so as to have them split.
That is one reason not to reuse a case from a proprietary system. Also, once you replace the motherboard, with a non-PB one, the install of Windows/license/COA is no longer valid...so you would need a new copy of Windows for that machine. And, then depending on the specs, other items installed, etc you'll probably need to replace the power supply...
Are you trying to match the memory and CPU?
How old are they?
If it is a P4 or single core AMD, it isn't even worth trying to do anything with, unless you already have a motherboard. Also, even if it is somewhat newer, depending on what socket the CPU is, it may not be worth doing anything with, unless you have a motherboard...
So, with that in mind, what are the full specs of the current machine?

MJC what you are saying is spot on however it is just a pc someone was disregarding rather than replace the board , everything else is working fine & I have a board to match the parts . new case prob only £ 30 but just looking to use old one if poss , bar the wiring that would be ok
