Will it be wise to use two HD4870X2 with a e8600 processor?

with that budget you would be better off with a high end quad core such as a Qx9650 or Q9650

ooo nooo dont get a Q9770 waste of money dont go higher than a Qx9650 even then i would say get a Q9650 and OC it to 3.2Ghz or 3.6Ghz it will easly do it
but if you are insistent yes your board will support that CPU

Yer your right george, i fink it's not worth the money. But Do you fink i should stick to my e8600 @ 4.2Ghz or get a Q9650, i fink it's $549, the e8600 is $284. So it's almost double. Do u fink it's worth the money? But will the e8600 be the bottleneck for the 2 HD4870X2 gpus. If not, i may consider sticking to e8600.

I just went through Amazon.com, i fink i'll be good with the Q9550. I can easily overclock it from 2.83 to 3.2 with Air cooling right? Can I overclock more than that? I wn't need more than 3.4Ghz per core

a Q9550 will easily OC to 3.2Ghz on air :) and get a quad core over a dual core
